Pit less weighbridge offer straightforward installation procedures and the side frames help to guide Vehicles centrally through the bridge. Approach and departure ramps can either be of steel construction or pre-cast in concrete on-site. Removable steel ramps have the advantage of being able to be moved with the bridge if relocation is required, leaving the site level. Samurai offer two main designs of steel Weighbridge.

The modular weighbridge, which can be used in both surface and pit installations, provides a low profile solution for weighing normal size vehicles and is available up to 18 meters in length. The Pitiless design (opposite) is ideal for weighing higher capacity vehicles, especially those that operate off road. The single steel structure has two main longitudinal beams and a varying concentration of cross beams to provide optimum strength at critical load points along the length.

A weighbridge with steel fabricated structure is faster, easier and in most cases more cost effective to install. With a blast-cleaned surface and good quality painting, the steel structures can provide a hard wearing finish against corrosion and hence a longer life. These are also easier to relocate, if required. In terms of maintaining product quality, steel structures should be fabricated under controlled factory conditions and can be shop-inspected prior to dispatch. When purchasing a weighbridge with a steel structure, ensure that you check that the deck is well designed and fabricated in a supplier’s own controlled facility using prime quality steel sourced from reputed steel makers. Bear in mind that the “weight of structure” is not a marker of quality as it does not represent design and workmanship aspects. Innovatively designed and welded modular constructions can provide better durability with lesser weight.
