Pit less weighbridges offer straightforward installation procedures and the side frames help to guide Vehicles centrally through the bridge. Approach and departure ramps can either be of steel construction or pre-cast in concrete on-site. Removable steel ramps have the advantage of being able to be moved with the bridge if relocation is required,leaving the site level. Samurai offer two main designs of steel Weighbridge. The modular weighbridge, which can be used in both surface and pit installations, provides a low profile solution for weighing normal size vehicles and is available up to 18 meters in length. The Pitiless design (opposite) is ideal for weighing higher capacity vehicles ,especially those that operate off road. The single steel structure has two main longitudinal beams and a varying concentration of cross beams to provide optimum strength at critical load points along the length. A weighbridge with steel fabricated structure is faster, easier and in most cases more cost effective to install. With a blast-cleaned surface and good quality painting, the steel structures can provide a hard wearing finish against corrosion and hence a longer life.

Product Details:

The SAMURAI CC pour-on-site concrete weighbridge is ideal for a wide range of applications, providing a robust, maintenance free, weighing deck. The weight of the steel deck framework used to retain the ready mixed concrete is less than the equivalent full steel weighbridge and therefore the Samurai CC structure is relatively easy to man oeuvre into position, without the need for heavy duty cranes.
 
This steel frame (complete with reinforcing) is installed on site with dummy load cells and then in-filled with ready-mixed concrete. When this has cured, the stainless steel fully weld-sealed digital or analogue load cells are fitted in place of the dummies and the system calibrated. Such ‘pour on site’ installations reduce the overall transportation carbon footprint and on site craneage requirements. The non-slip finish provides an excellent skid resistant surface.
 
This design of weighbridge is ideal for indoor installations where access is restricted for cranes. The Samurai CC can be supplied in custom sizes (imperial and metric) to be fitted into existing weighbridge pits.
In some extremely wet, frosty and potentially corrosive environments, a concrete structure may provide a durable solution with greater traction. Concrete structures require higher installation time and efforts as concrete needs time to pour, level, dry out and cure before use.

For durability, concrete structures need to be adequately reinforced by high strength steel construction since concrete is extremely strong in compression (top of structure) but is known to be weaker in tension (bottom of structure). Ramps: In the case of surface mounted weighbridges, approach ramps are required which can be of concrete or steel structure. Remember that ramps take the brute force of being hit by a vehicle as it mounts the ramp. Concrete can offer longevity, while steel is ideal if the weighbridge is likely to be moved.
